2011 Rose Bowl: Wisconsin vs TCU Odds

by Matt Foust on Saturday, January 1st, 2011

They do not get much bigger than this year's Granddaddy of Them All as No. 5 Wisconsin meets No. 3 TCU in the 2011 Rose Bowl. The BCS clash is scheduled to get underway at 4:30pm ET today at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California. 2011 Rose Bowl Odds have the Horned Frogs, this year's BCS busting squad, listed as a -3 against the spread favorite; the game total is set at 57. This afternoon's game will be broadcast live on ESPN.

TCU came into this season 2011 Rose Bowl: Wisconsin vs TCU Oddswith huge expectations and after posting a 12-0 record, its seventh double digit win season in Head Coach Gary Patterson's 10 years running the football program, it has fulfilled almost all of them. Sure, the Horned Frogs would have loved a shot at the National Championship, but they must take what they can get under the sham that is the BCS.

At least TCU qualified for a BCS Bowl, and a good one at that, as this afternoon's Rose Bowl dustup with Wisconsin may be the most intriguing postseason game other than the National Championship.

TCU's top ranked defense squaring off against the Badgers potent offense should make for an entertaining contest. The Horned Frog's offense cannot be discounted in this matchup, though.

Senior quarterback Andy Dalton, who threw for 2638 yards and 26 touchdowns, leads a unit that averaged 43.3 points and 490.8 yards per game. Those numbers ranked fourth (tied with Wisconsin) and ninth in the nation respectively.

Wisconsin earned its spot in today's game with a stellar 11-1 regular season campaign that featured a 31-18 whipping of Ohio State at Camp Randall Stadium. The Badgers, which only loss came against Michigan State in East Lansing, placed first in the Big Ten standings with a 7-1 conference record.

Wisconsin closed out its season on a seven game win streak, which included an 83-20 win over Indiana and a 70-23 beating of Northwestern in its finale.

The Badgers appearance in today's Rose Bowl marks their first BCS Bowl berth under fifth year Head Coach Bret Bielema. Wisconsin, which posted a 10-3 record last season after upsetting Miami in the Champs Sports Bowl, is 2-2 in postseason play with Bielema on the sidelines.

2011 Rose Bowl Betting Trend: TCU is 8-2 straight up and against the spread in its last 10 games as a favorite with a spread between 0 and 3.5.

2011 Rose Bowl Wisconsin vs TCU Odds:

Wisconsin Badgers +3 (-110), Over 57 (-110)

TCU Horned Frogs -3 (-110), Under 57 (-110)
