Jacksonville Jaguars vs Cleveland Browns NFL Picks Week 17

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Cleveland Browns NFL Picks Week 17: It’s almost hard to believe that just three weeks ago, Jack Del Rio and his club appeared destined towards the postseason. However, three straight loses have pretty much doomed the (7-8) Jacksonville Jaguars [+1] as they’ll close out their NFL Picks season against a team that has won three straight in the sports betting odds favorite (4-11) Cleveland Browns [-1].

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Cleveland Browns NFL Picks Week 17The Jags and the Browns are scheduled to kickoff the season finale at 1:05 PM ET live from Cleveland Browns Stadium on CBS Sports. For those of you interested in betting on the OVER/UNDER between Jacksonville and Cleveland, NFL Week 17 Picks experts at BODOG.com have set their mark at a combined total of 36 points.

For the Jaguars, finishing the season off strong needs to be a priority, especially after being run over last week. Playing for an AFC East title, the New England Patriots flexed their muscles in front of a packed Gillette Stadium, routing Jacksonville 35-7. The loss was Jacksonville’s third consecutive, as it practically sealed their fate past January 3rd. The Pats took a five-touchdown lead into the final stanza, and that should pretty much give you an idea of how the Jaguars’ day in Foxborough went.

"Blew it," said running back Maurice Jones-Drew. "That's pretty much what it came down to. We didn't do what we needed to do to win games. It wasn't really what other teams did to us, we just beat ourselves."

For the hosting Browns, they appear to be headed in the opposite direction from the Jags, as they come in looking for their first 4-game win streak in 15 years. It’s too bad that this team began to show promise so late in the season.

Nevertheless, a win could save some jobs during the offseason, as well as give this young team some confidence going into the future. "We see it as we're moving in the right direction," said Cleveland running back Jerome Harrison. "If my number is called, I just try to make the best of it, whether it's running, blocking, catching, whatever it may be."

With Brady Quinn injured, quarterback Derek Anderson will get the nod for a second straight week. The last time these teams faced each other, Anderson threw for 246 yards and a score, as the Browns defeated the Jags 23-17.

Of course, the biggest question mark this offseason will be if coach Eric Mangini will be filing for unemployment. With the hiring of new team president Mike Holmgren, who claims he has yet to made a decision, many believe that this game could be a deal-breaker for the head coach.

"I'm not a big fan of the quick hook," Holmgren said. "I never did that with quarterbacks when they played for me and I really don't think one year is enough to prove what you're trying to get done. I wouldn't be a big fan of just allowing a guy to coach just one year and out. But having said that, I haven't made any decisions yet."
