Baltimore Ravens (11-5) vs. Miami Dolphins (11-5) NFL Picks: Both the Baltimore Ravens and Miami Dolphins have been some of the biggest surprises this NFL Picks season. This afternoon, beginning at 1:05 PM ET (10:05 AM PT) on CBS, these once NFL Picks underdogs collide for a shot at prolonging its postseason life and move on to the next round.

According to odds-makers at SportsBook.com, the Baltimore Ravens [-3½] are the Sports Odds favorites to prevail on the road against this tricky Miami Dolphins [+3½] team.

No question the Ravens and Dolphins have come a long way this NFL Picks season. No one could have predicted that neither Miami nor Baltimore would be playoff-teams, but here we are. Most of each team’s success is in part do to solid and consistent play at the quarterback position. The OVER/UNDER for this Baltimore Ravens vs. Miami Dolphins NFL Picks has been totaled at a combined 28 points.

Indeed, one of the most incredible stories this season has been the dramatic turnaround the Miami Dolphins have made. The offseason acquisition of Chad Pennington (321-476, 3653 yards, 19 TDs, 7 INTs) has proven key in the Dolphins’ offensive scheme, as they continue to surprise everyone. “He's vital to this team, he really is,” coach Sparano said. “With Chad coming in here and doing what he's done right now and bringing a bunch of people together, these young players, what he's brought to them from a leadership standpoint.”

Only a year after going 1-15, Miami won the AFC East for its first division title since 2000. And who was the only team the Dolphins defeat last season? You guess it, these same Baltimore Ravens. “I don't think words can describe it,” running back Ronnie Brown said when asked of his team’s turnaround. “Earlier in the season, we could only imagine being in this situation… It's a great accomplishment. With it comes more motivation to keep winning games.”

The Sports Odds favorites, Ravens, had one of the best defenses in the league this year. Not only are they a very dangerous opponent, but they also come in with plenty of momentum, winning five of their final six games. Quarterback Joe Flacco (257-428, 2971 yards, 14 TDs, 12 INTs), who was the 18th overall pick in this year's NFL Picks draft, was originally expected to back up Kyle Boller. However, when Boller was placed on injured reserve before the season due to a shoulder injury, Flacco got his opportunity, and did he ever respond. Much like a seasoned veteran, Flacco completed 60% of his passes for 2,971 yards and 14 TDs with 12 interceptions. “Joe has come a long way. It's like night and day,” Boller said. “Seeing him now, he's ready for the playoffs.”

It will be very interesting to see how the young fella responds under the bright lights of the postseason. Last night, we saw the Rookie of the Year, Matt Ryan, struggle on that stage. “Our team's prepared for anything right now,” said first-year coach John Harbaugh. “Our team feels very confident in any kind of circumstance or situation they would face.”
