Sam Bradford leads Oklahoma in BCS Title Game

by Reno Gold on Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Oklahoma University finds itself playing in another national championship game in part because of the heroics of its quarterback, redshirt sophomore Sam Bradford . In only his second season as starter, Bradford has surpassed any expectations one would have of a sophomore starter.

In 2008, Bradford led the Sooners to a 12-1 season and a Big 12 Conference Championship after defeating Missouri 62-21 in the Big 12 Championship Game. Following the game Oklahoma jumped to No. 1 in the BCS Poll earning a right to play in the BCS title game against SEC Champ Florida on January 8th at Dolphin Stadium in Miami, Fla.

After the 2008 campaign, Bradford was awarded the Davey O'Brien Award, for the outstanding college quarteback, and the Heisman Trophy, for college football's best player. Bradford was only the second player in history to win the Heisman Trophy as a sophomore. Interestingly enough, that player, Tim Tebow, 2007 Heisman winner will be starting opposite Bradford in the BCS title game for the Florida Gators.

Online sportsbook SBGglobal.com has Bradford and his Oklahoma Sooners listed as +5 1/2 point underdogs in the BCS title game. The Sooners are getting +220 moneyline juice with a betting total of 69 1/2.
