The long shot Arizona Cardinals are heading to the Super Bowl for the first time in franchise history after beating the Philadelphia Eagles 32-25 in the 2009 NFC Championship. The Cardinals were 3 point underdogs heading into the NFC Championship Game and 5 to 1 odds to win Super Bowl XLIII.
“The Eagles let the Cardinals get to far ahead in the first half and it proved too much to overcome in the second half,” stated Sports-Odds.com Publisher Thomas Jensen when asked to comment on the Arizona Cardinals victory over the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2009 NFC Championship Game. “Cardinals backers scored a nice +160 payday for every $100 bet. OVER backers were in the money heading into the fourth quarter.”
Kurt Warner and Larry Fitzgerald lit up the Eagles secondary all day and proved to much for Philadelphia to handle in the end. Fitzgerald caught a record-setting three touchdown passes in the first half making him the first player in NFL history to do so in a Championship game.
Next up for the Cardinals are either the Baltimore Ravens or the Pittsburgh Steelers. Arizona will be a heavy underdog in Super Bowl XLIII no matter which team represents the AFC. Bet on Super Bowl XLIII at Sportsbook.com.
