Senior Bowl 2012 College Football Picks: Senior Bowl 2012 College Football Predictions: Many of the top college football seniors from across America, looking to get noticed by NFL scouts, have been preparing all week to play the traditional Senior Bowl Game today (3:05 pm ET) at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala. The players will be coached by current NFL coaches. NFL Network will televise the game with a 3:00 pm ET kickoff.
Oddsmakers at online sportsbook TopBet.com list the North squad as 2 1/2-chalk College Football Odds favorite over the East with a 45 1/2 point combined score (over/under) total. Backers of the South team are getting +115 odds on the offshore moneyline to win outright while the wager price for a SU win by the North team is -135 ($135 wager to win $100).
Handicapping these college all-star games is not very scientific. With the best players divided equally, finding a true edge on either side can be difficult. However, that doesn’t mean one can’t be successful in finding winning action. Perhaps the best bet is against the game total.
The players are selected to represent the North or South team, depending on the geographical location of their school. This year oddsmakers like the group from the North just a little better than those in the south but that can have a lot to do with how the public is betting. Finding a true edge on either side can be difficult, however, that doesn’t mean one can’t be successful in finding winning action.
The game features a mixture of players, mostly from FBS programs. Some of the more notable’s playing today for the North are Quarterbacks Kellen Moore of Boise State, Russell Wilson of Wisconsin and Kirk Cousins of Michigan State. Brandon Weeden is the most notable quarterback on South team, also joined by Nick Foles of Arizona and Ryan Lindley of San Diego State.
Coaching the North will be Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier while Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan coaches South team.
Senior Bowl Predictions: I give the North a slight edge on offense but I like the defensive group for the South. I believe defense will shine today and South pulls out a SU win. My Pick – South +2 1/2.
