Troy Polamalu Superbowl Predictions: In this year’s Superbowl Predictions, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Arizona Cardinals will face each other for the first time ever in postseason play. The following is a look at the regular season series history between the two teams, which began in 1933:

Overall: Pittsburgh leads 32-23-3. At Pittsburgh: Pittsburgh leads 21-8-1. At Arizona/Chicago/St. Louis: Arizona leads 15-11-2. Last meeting: Sept. 30, 2007 (in Phoenix), Arizona 21, Pittsburgh 14.

-The Steelers merged with the Chicago Cardinals in 1944 to form Card-Pitt because of the lack of available players due to World War II. The team finished 0-10 that season and played their home games in Chicago.

-The matchup in Super Bowl XLIII between the Steelers and Cardinals will the first Super Bowl meeting between two of the NFL’s oldest franchises.

-The Steelers are 2-3 against the Cardinals since their move to Phoenix prior to the 1988 season.

-Pittsburgh’s first-ever victory as an organization came against the Chicago Cardinals, 14-13, on Sept. 27, 1933.

-The Steelers are 0-1 against the Arizona Cardinals under Mike Tomlin. Pittsburgh dropped a 21-14 decision in Phoenix during the2007 season.

-Several Arizona Cardinals either coached or played for the Steelers, including Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt, assistant head coach/ offensive line Russ Grimm, special teams coach Kevin Spencer, wide receivers coach Mike Miller, defensive assistant Matt Raich, WR Sean Morey, QB Brian St. Pierre and TE Jerame Tuman.
