T.J. Houshmandzadeh Signs with Seattle Seahawks: According to various reports, stellar wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh and the Seattle Seahawks have agreed on a five-year contract. It was reported by ESPN.com that the former Cincinnati Bengals receiver’s deal is for “$40 million and includes $15 million in guarantees”.
Does this mean that Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson will be the next to depart from Cinci? Well just have to wait and see, but by the looks of it, this might be a rebuilding team next season.
Over the last 2 seasons, Houshmandzadeh caught 204 passes. The 31-year-old wide out should have an immediate impact, as no one in Seattle caught more than 47 throws last season: WR Bobby Engram.
The Seahawks finished the 2008 season with a 4-12 mark, as their wide receiving personnel was one of the main reasons for the decline. There were 7 injuries in that position alone last year.
The combination of Houshmandzadeh and Chad Johnson gave Cincinnati one of the best receiving one-two punches in the NFL in 2005. That year, the Bengals had their only winning record in the last 18 years. In 2006, Houshmandzadeh bagan to develop into a dependable receiver, catching 90 passes. The following year, he in tied New England’s West Welker for an NFL-best 112 receptions, earning his first Pro Bowl selection.
