Steelers WR Santonio Holmes Sued for Assault and Battery: The Pittsburgh Steelers cant seem to stay out of the spotlight this offseason, as the second superstar is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. According to various reports, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santonio Holmes is being sued by a woman who claims the Super Bowl XLIII MVP caused a laceration near her eye after throwing a glass full of liquor at her in a Orlando, FL, nightclub on March 7th.
The woman also claims that Holmes and a police officer intimidated her into not pressing charges and that the NFL star offered to pay her off in order for her not to pursue legal action against him. Anshonoe Mills is now seeking more than $15,000 in damages from Holmes.
According to some accounts, Mills was sitting on an arm of a chair at Rain Night Club’s VIP section when Holes approached her and told her to, “Get up,” and that’s when a verbal altercation began. According to Mills, Holes then grabbed her her face and threw a glass that stroke her in the right side of the face, cutting her open near her eye.
“Our allegations inside the complaint were stemming basically solely from our client's allegations and that's the way she felt at the scene,” said one of Mills’ attorneys, Jacques Cooper.
“We want to try to get a better understanding of what happened that night,” added another one of her attorneys, Reganel Reeves. "We have a good understanding, but we want any evidence that's out there.”
On Monday, Holmes decided to post a message on his Twitter account: “Before anyone decides to state unknown fact, please do research 1st,” reads the Tweet. “In the end it makes you look like the fool!”
