Daunte Culpepper To Sign with UFL Sacramento Mountain Lions: It looks like free agent quarterback, Daunte Culpepper will remain a Lion after all… a Sacramento Mountain Lion, that is. According to various reports, the former Vikings/Dolphins/Raiders/Lions QB is close to signing a contract to play in the United Football League next season. The Sacramento Mountain Lions were formerly known as the California Redwoods.
When/if the signing takes place, Culpepper would become the biggest name to make the transition from the
National Football League to the UFL. This signing would also reacquaint Culpepper with Mountain Lions general manager/coach Dennis Green. Culpepper and Green spent time together while with the Minnesota Vikings.
Furthermore, Culpepper will also reunite with his former coach in Central Florida, Mike Kruczek, who is now the offensive coordinator in Sacto. Culpepper, who is now 33-years-old threw for 24,153 yards in the NFL, along with 149 touchdowns and 106 interceptions and a career-quarterback rating of 87.8 as a pro.
Culpepper is also a 2-time All-Pro selection (2000, 2004) as well as a 3-time Pro Bowler (2000, 2003, 2004). The 6-foor-4, 240 pound signal-caller was drafted as the eleventh overall pick in the first round of the 1999 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings.
