NFL Betting odds to win AFC East

by Abe Luciano on Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

With a bank busting +405 win over the AFC champion New England Patriots to win the Superbowl the NY Giants showed that the Patriots are no supermen. Rigid after the near perfection turned failure 2007 season the Pats are back to take their 4th Superbowl in the past 8 years. The AFC East will be a minor roadblock for them according to my 2008 AFC East betting preview.. With nine defensive starters returning the Pats having lost only Asante Samuel to Free-Agency the New England Patriots have the favored NFL betting odds to win AFC East and the New England Patriots are 10 to 3 to win the 2009 Superbowl at BodogLife.com.

This is my take of teams in my NFL Betting odds to win AFC East:
NFL Betting odds to win AFC East
1. New England Patriots -  Bill Belichick is still at the controls cheating or no cheating an he still has his artillery intact. The mutant coach must be sour from last year’s near Superbowl hit at 18-1 but with a well-rounded team of studs he is set for a 2008 AFC East betting win. Tom Brady, Randy Moss and company will again  do the same kind of damage as last year’s team that averaged 36.8 PPG.The defense showed some cracks late in the season allowing an NFL  th best 17.1 PPG. The linebacking group was considered but the 2008 New England Defense is more youthful and hungry this season. The New England Patriots are 1-8 Football betting odds favorites to win the 2008 AFC EAST title.

2. Buffalo Bills -  Dick Jauron’s second season of mediocrity was largely due to the 3oth ranked offense in the NFL. The Bills must get more production from the young duo of QB Trent Edwards and Marshawn Lynch to support their 18th ranked defense that made the Bills a profitable 9-6-1 ATS. Th addition of  Hardy along with the elite running skills of Marshawn Lynch should have the Bills motor running smooth. The Bills had a bad lat stretch last season but with the Bills big play potential on offense they could me much improved a in an average division. To their credit, the Bills responded with aplomb, rallying to win six of its eleven remaining games. The 6’5” second-round draft pick. WR James Hardy and CB LeOdis Mckelvin gives the Bills  an instant boost on both sides of the ball. The 2008 NFL betting odds to win AFC East for the Buffalo Bills are set to 8-1 to win the 2008 AFC EAST title.

3. New York Jets -  The Jets took a nose dive in their 2007 campaign after going to the playoffs the previous year, having most Jets fans mocking Eric Mangini’s “genius” tag. learned The jets ended the season going 4-12 and 6-9-1 ATS. for the campaign sending head coach The dissapointing season has Eric Mangini  back to rebuilding and he did an exceelnt job in the off-season. With key additions on both sides of the line the Jets look to be signifigantly improved. Damien Woody and Alan Faneca to stabalize the offensive line. The front seven looks above-average with key additions DE Vernon Gholston, DT Kris Jenkins and imposing LB Calvin Pace. The Jets will look to run often with Thomas Jones and Leon Washington but they are likely to have another bad offensive season like years 25th ranked unit. Chad Pennington and Kellen Clemens are both marginal starters that are unable to lead the Jets back to the playoffs. The NY Jets betting preview showed the NFL betting odds to win AFC East at 8-1 for the 2008 NFL season.

4. Miami Dolphins – The Miami Dolphins are coming off the worst season in franchise history when Cam Camron ran the Dolphins into a 1-15 record. In is Bill Parcells and Tony Sparano to re direct the proud Dolphins who played hard enough last season to go a half respectable 5-8-3 ATS. Miami will have a three-way QB race of unproven rookie Chad Henne, second year man John Beck and journeyman Chad McCown. Henne has the strongest arm and is most equipped but McCown has the better athleticism. Running back Ronnie Brown is the most talented player on the offense and will need produce points to help a defense that ranked 30th in the NFL last year. The Dolphins made moves to add OT Jake Long and Jason Ferguson and Reggie Torber on defense but this team will not crack .500 this season. The NFL betting odds to win AFC East found the Maimi Dolphins at 15-1 odds to win the AFC East divison in 2008.
