Is Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre Coming Back From Retirement?

Is Green Bay Packers QB Brett Favre Coming Back from Retirement? With the NFL’s Training Camp just around the corner (at the end of July): training facilities are beginning their preparation process, teams are starting to prepare offensive/defensive schemes, players’ bodies are starting to get that feeling of getting back to playing shape, and retired Green Bay Packers QB, Brett Favre, has an itch.

After 17 seasons in the NFL, the legendary QB announced his retirement in an emotional press conference after last season. A choked up teary eyed Favre cited his reasons for walking away from the game he loved as being “just tired”.

Among his other reasons Favre stated: "I've given everything I possibly could give to this organization, the game of football, and I don't think I've got anything left to give And that's it. I know I can play. But I don't think I want to."

Reports have been circulating for some time now that Hall of Fame bound Brett Favre, might come out of retirement and join the Green Bay Packers at the start of training camp at months’ end. However, on Wednesday, Brett Favre himself dismissed all speculation, when he told a Mississippi newspaper: “it’s all rumor.”

His teammates however, have a much different understanding of the facts. On Wednesday, Green Bay Packers CB Al Harris appeared on ESPN’s “NFL Live”. According to Favre’s ex-teammate, Brett has expressed to him that he wants to come back and play next season. When asked what exactly Favre had said to him, Harris simply said, "he told me he got the itch”, and said “If he will or not, I don't know."

The Green Bay Packers had planned for Aaron Rogers to be Favre’s replacement. Harris also addressed that issue, and provided some locker room feedback: "Aaron is our quarterback… Brett's retired. But if he wanted to come back, there would be some guys who wouldn't mind it. I would welcome him back with open arms." Team spokesman, Jeff Blumb, told The Associated Press: “The Packers have no reaction.”

Brett Favre has two years left on his contract with the Green Bay Packers, at an average of about $12.5 million per season.
