The Denver Broncos have not had the tumultuous off season that they did in 2007. The deaths of cornerback Darrent Williams and running back Damian Nash rocked the team last year. The current legal troubles of promising wideout Brandon Marshall seem small by comparison. NFL Betting odds at Sportsbetting.com have the Broncos listed at 50-1 odds of winning the Super Bowl.

The Broncos had a busy off season on the defensive side of the ball. Head Coach Mike Shanahan is looking to improve a unit that allowed a whopping 25.6 points per game last year. The team brought in four new faces including Champ Bailey's brother Boss, a former second round pick of the Lions. Also joining Bailey as a new Denver addition is safety Marlon McCree who was released by the Chargers this off season.

Not everything was terrible for the Denver defense in 2007, they did rank 7th in pNFL Betting: Denver Broncos AFC West Previewassing yards allowed at 193.4 and they ranked 16th in the league with 33 sacks. They will need to maintain or improve those numbers to keep pace with San Diego.

The Denver offense, it is safe to say, was a disappointment in 2007. Jay Cutler was expected to have a breakout year, but he seldom showed what made him a first round pick in 2006. The Broncos piled up quite a few yards under his leadership but they were unable to translate that production into points (ranked 21st in the league in scoring).

Cutler will be without Javon Walker this season; however the club did bring in veteran receivers Darrell Jackson and Samie Parker. Brandon Marshall, assuming that he is not suspended, looks to be on the verge of greatness. Last season he hauled in 102 catches and seven touchdowns.

Denver has a capable stable of running backs returning, including Selvin Young who helped the offense produce an average of 122 yards per game on the ground in 2007. The club did lose long time kicker and bail out artist Jason Elam to the Falcons.

NFL Betting odds at Sportsbetting.com give Denver 25-1 odds of winning the AFC title game and 9-2 odds of winning the AFC West.
