College Football Predictions Syracuse Orange Big East Conference 2008: Time might be running out for Syracuse head coach Greg Robinson. Coach Robinson has now had 3 consecutive loosing seasons at the helm, as his 7-28 record indicates. 2008 might very well be the last chance coach Robinson gets at turning this football program around. Last season, the Syracuse Orange finished with a Big East Conference worse 2-10 (1-6). This upcoming season, BetUS.com has the Syracuse Orange’s betting odds to win the Big East Conference in 2008, and they are highly unlikely: +5000. In the '07 campaign, Syracuse managed to win just 2 games all year long (Louisville and Buffalo). And even though they had a rough schedule, it doesn’t matter now; as everyone’s job is on the line, and it'll all depend on how quickly they can show positive results. From an offensive standpoint, the Offensive line needs the most work. Syracuse will also need a solid year from returning QB Andrew Robinson. Last season for offensive coordinator, Mitch Browning, QB A. Robinson threw for 2,192 yards, 13 TDs, and 7 INTs. Syracuse’s returning leading rusher last season, RB Curtis Brinkley, will be depended on to put up better production numbers than his 371 rushing yards. WR Mike Williams will also be returning to the program. Williams was Syracuse’s leading receiver, as he lead the team with 837 receiving yards. On the defensive side of the ball, defensive coordinator Derrick Jackson will be sharing duties with co-defensive coordinator and head coach, Greg Robinson. The two will need to improve in many areas of this soft defense. However, their biggest concern will be to improve their pass defense. Last season, the “D” applied absolutely no pressure on the passer. The Syracuse defense, as a team, recorded just 9 sacks all season long.
