Connecticut Huskies Big East Conference 2008 College Football Predictions

by Abe Luciano on Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

Connecticut Huskies Big East Conference 2008 College Football Predictions: After winning a share of the Big East title (9-4, 5-2), but finishing the ’07 campaign with a disappointing 10-24 loss to Wake Forest (Meineke Bowl), head coach, Randy Edsall (50-55), will be making some key changes to his starters. According to BetUS.com the Connecticut Huskies’ betting odds to win the Big East Conference in 2008 are +1000.

The first order of business for Edsall was rearranging some defensive positions. After loosing LB Danny Lansanah, Scott Lutrus will be shifting over to (inside) LB to fill his spot.

Also changing positions will be S Dahna Deleston. This upcoming season, Deleston will be playing the LB position.

Even though all this shifting in personnel means that defensive coordinator, Todd Orlando, will have an empty S position to fill, UConn’s “D” will once again be the strength of this squad in 2008.

Orlando has the luxury of having 8 returning starters to the program. This might very easily put UConn at the top of the Big East Conference defensively in ’08.

But the Huskies do have a weak link in their team, as their offensive is a bit lackluster when it comes to firepower. Returning QB, Tyler Lorenzen, will need to do a much better job than he did last season for this team to be successful.

The biggest downset for this Huskies’ offense is their inability to hit the big play. Thus, opposing defenses can lock in on certain receivers not allowing huge gains. UConn desperately needs someone that can come in and help out the offense by stretching out opposing defenses, and opening things up for Lorenzen to go to work.
