College Football Predictions Oregon State Beavers PAC 10 Conference 2008: This upcoming 2008 season, the Oregon State Beavers will have to make up 110 rushing yards and 14 TDs per game with the departure of RB Yvenson Bernard. Ryan McCants (Freshman)might just be the solution, but this is yet to be proven out on the field. BetUS.com has the best Oregon State Beavers’ betting odds for this upcoming 2008 season. Despite having such a powerful force in the backfield last season, the Beavers’ success didn’t depend solely on how the offense played. It was moreso, their "D", and for a (rushing) dense that ranked first in the nation last season, they now must deal with key losses. The biggest players defensive coordinator, Mark Banker, will miss the most: DT Curtis Coker, LBs Alan Darlin and Derrick Doggett, S Daniel Drayton, and many others. Needless to say, the Oregon State defense will not be nearly as good as it was last year (especially their rushing D). However, there are some good news for Banker, and the rest of this Beavers’ defense. In 2008, Oregon State will have the luxury of having very good (passing) defensive players back to the program, such as: CBs Keenan Lewis, Brandon Hughes, and S Al Afalava. This will improve the Beavers’ passing defense significantly, and thus help Oregon State deal with some high-flying offenses in the PAC 10. The Oregon State Beavers’ betting odds to win the PAC 10 Conference in 2008 are +5000. The weakness for the Beavers lies on the offensive side of the ball. For offensive coordinator, Danny Langsdorf, his biggest concern for his team will be the QB situation. Last season they were fortunate enough to have a beast coming out of the backfield. However this season, they will be exposed, and teams will take note of their lack of aerial attack. Sean Canfield must have better production numbers than what he put up last year (9 TDs and 15 INTs). They also must deal with the replacement of all those starters on the defensive end. The Oregon State Beavers finished last season with an impressive mark of 9-4 (6-3). Mike Riley (47-38) was able to get these boys to gel well together, as they came up with a 21-14 win over Maryland in the Emerald Bowl.
