Clemson Tigers ACC Preview 2008 College Football Predictions: Once again this upcoming season will the Clemson Tigers be one of the odds-on favorites to win the Atlantic Coast Conference along with Virginia Tech and the Miami Hurricanes. The Clemson Tigers’ betting odds to win the BCS Championship game in 2009 are +2,000

Head coach Tommy Bowden (59-42 at Clemson), who always seems to do a terrific job with this club, is looking to improve from last year’s mark of 9-4 (5-3). But more so, this coaching staff wants to avoid repeating the way they finished their final game, which they lost to Auburn (20-23) in the Chick-fil-A Bowl.

This upcoming season, the combination of James Davis and C.J. Spiller in the backfield, will be one of the best one-two combinations in the entire ACC. The Clemson Tigers’ betting odds to win the ACC in 2008 are tops with VT at +250.

Last season, RB James Davis led the team with 1,101 running yards, marking his second consecutive season, which he has rushed for over the 1,000-yard-mark.

Also, by Davis and Spiller both being imminent threats out of the backfield, allowed QB Cullen Harper to mix things up better with more play-action passes. Last season Harper had an outstanding season, as he threw for almost 3,000 yards (2,991), 27 TDs, and only 6 INTs.

However, Clemson’s weak link is also on the offensive side of the ball. The O-line allowed way too many sacks last season despite having a good year. And to make matters worse, 4 of the 5 starters from last season –including All-Americans: Barry Richardson and Chris McDuffie– won’t be back in 2008.
