Football Predictions North Carolina State Wolfpack ACC Preview 2008: After another disappointing 5-7 (3-5) season in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Wolfpack fans can expect more of the same in 2008. However, there’s hope in the horizon for second year NC State head coach, Tom O’Brien. But how long will it take? At SBGglobal.com the North Carolina State Wolfpack’s betting odds to win the ACC in 2008 are +5,000. Last season, NC State had one of the worse rushing offenses and defenses in all of college football. The Wolfpack’s rushing offense ranked 110th in the nation, and 11th in the ACC. While their rushing defense wasn’t much better than that: 91st in the country and 12th in the Conference. Some good news for NC State is the return of some key pieces, which were unavailable last season due to injury: Andre Brown and Toney Baker. Another bright spot is the return of last season’s leading rusher (RB) Jamelle Eugene (667 yards). Also, sophomore Curtis Underwood will be a valuable addition to NC State’s backfield. Due to last season’s rushing woes, offensive coordinator, Dana Bible, will be making some shifts in personnel. Defensive linemen, John Bedics and Ted Larson, will be coming over on offense to help alleviate, and give some depth to an anemic O-line. Another huge problem last season was NC State’s rushing defense. This year, the struggles will continue on that end, but especially with the linebackers. After loosing all three starters from last season, only one remains: Nate Irving. Therefore, 2008 is finally the year that upperclassmen, Ray Michel and Robbie Leonard, should step up and shine.
