Texas Longhorns Big 12 Conference Preview 2008 College Football Predictions: As good as the Texas Longhorns’ offense has been over the past few years, their defense has been just as bad. And of course, playing in the Big XII –which is so passing oriented– doesn’t really help their cause much. At SBGglobal.com the Texas Longhorns’ betting odds to win the BCS National Championship game in 2009 are +1,200. The Longhorns are coming off consecutive 10-win seasons. Last season they registered 10 wins with only 3 losses, and went 5-3 in games played against Big XII Conference teams. They also finished with a 52-34 victory over Arizona State in the Holiday Bowl. The Texas Longhorns’ betting odds to win the Big 12 Conference in 2008 are second best (to OU’s +150) at: 200. The Texas Longhorns’ strength is on the offensive end of the football. And the offensive attack starts and ends with outstanding junior QB Colt McCoy. Last season, McCoy led the team in passing (3,303 yards), and with RB Jamaal Charles gone, he will come in also as the leading returning rusher with his 492 yards. As a freshman, McCoy put up incredible numbers (29 TD and just 7 INT), but last season he sort of came back down to earth (22 TD and 18 INT). The Texas Longhorns’ Over/Under in wins for the 2008 NCAA Football regular season is 9 (both ML at -115). The only soft spot in the Longhorns’ game is on the defensive end. They have been known to surrender the big play, and have allowed tons of yards in a hurry. The Longhorns are hoping that newly acquired defensive coordinator, Will Muschamp, has a solution to that inadequacy with his aggresive defensive style.
