New Orleans Saints 2009 NFL Odds – 2010 Super Bowl Predictions: Last season, New Orleans Saints’ disproportion in offense and defense couldn’t have been more apparent. Defensively, they ranked among the worse teams in the league in seemingly every significant statistical category: Points (ranked 26th with 24.6), Yards (ranked 23rd with 339.50, Passing yards (ranked 23rd with 221.7) and Rushing Yards (ranked 17th with 117.8). In contrast, quarterback Drew Brees lit-up defenses all around the league on his way to an NFL-best: 5,069 passing yards, 34 touchdowns, 17 interceptions, and a cool, 96.2 QB-rating. As a result, the Saints were the NFL’s top offensive team in the league in three of the four major categories: Points (28.9), Yards (410.7), and Passing Yards (311.1). However, in the lone offensive category in which where they weren’t the best at, they were in fact one of the worse. The New Orleans Saints [20-1] finished the 2008 season ranked 28th in the league in Rushing Yards per game with an average of 99.6. That’s something the organization wished to address this offseason, as coach Sean Payton expressed his desire to add a power running back to the mix. After releasing bruising back, Deuce McAllister, there was a significant void left in the power, running game of the Saints. In the 2009 NFL Draft, New Orleans addressed its true weaknesses and selected three defenders in their first three picks, which include Ohio State CB Malcolm Jenkins and Wake Forest S Chip Vaughn. So where does that leave the running back situation? Is Reggie Bush going to comeback a monster? Not exactly, according to Payton and the organization, "I think the guy we’re looking for may already be in the building," yes, he’s referring to Pierre Thomas. Just take a look at these numbers, which are from Week 11-16: Thomas recorded a combined 19 receptions, 677 scrimmage yards and found the end zone 9 times. Sounds to me like you’ve got yourself a power-back! Problem solved in the Big Easy? We’re just going to have to wait and see… In the meantime, here are some 2009 NFL Odds contenders with the best sports betting odds favorites to win the 2010 Super Bowl Predictions: New England Patriots [6-1] Pittsburgh Steelers [10-1] San Diego Chargers [10-1] New York Giants [11-1] Philadelphia Eagles [14-1] Want more, or is your team excluded from this short list?
