Nebraska Cornhuskers Big 12 Conference Preview 2008 College Football Predictions: After a disastrous 2-6 Big XII Conference record last year, Bill Callahan is history, enter Bo Pelini (1-0 record at Nebraska). The defensive minded, Pelini, will try to encourage the Huskers to play the kind of tough defensive he imposed at Oklahoma and LSU. The Nebraska Cornhuskers’ betting odds to win the BCS National Championship game in 2009 are +8000.

Pelini will be making his second strive at the legendary university, with the first being back in 2003, when he registered a win in the Alamo Bowl as Nebraska’s interim head coach.

Last season, Nebraska finished with an overall mark of 5-7, as they were ineligible for a Bowl game. This upcoming season, if the defense can improve some from last season –as they likely will– and the offense can have a repeat performance of 2007, they are certainly Bowl-bound. The Nebraska Cornhuskers’ betting odds to win the Big XII Conference in 2008 are +1000.

The offensive side of the ball looks extremely promising going into the ’08 campaign. RB Marlon Lucky returns this season after rushing for over the millennium mark (1,019). The ML betting odds for Nebraska to win OVER 7 games in the upcoming 2008 regular season is -130.

Another bright side for Nebraska is the return of QB Joe Ganz, who last season threw for 1,435 passing yards. In the WR department, they will be counting on Nate Swift, Todd Peterson, and Lucky out of the backfield to catch some passes. The ML betting odds for Nebraska to win OVER 7 games in the upcoming 2008 regular season is Even.
