Brett Favre Will Not Report to Green Bay Packers Training Camp: Very early on the Sunday morning of July 27, 2008 at around 2 am ET, SI.com divulged new information pertaining to the ongoing Brett Favre saga. According to the report, the retired Green Bay Packers quarterback himself, informed SI in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, that he would not be reporting to the Green Bay Packers training camp on Sunday as previously thought. Did Brett Favre have another change of heart? Not exactly.

In a statement Favre explained in the very early hours of Sunday morning:

“I had planned on reporting for the start of Packers training camp Sunday, But Ted Thompson (Packers GM) asked if I would give him a couple of days to try to get the situation resolved. I agreed to do that. I don’t want to be a distraction to the Packers, and I hope that in the next few days we can come to an agreement that would allow me to continue playing football.”

Favre, who has yet to file reinstatement papers with the NFL’s commissioner Roger Goodell, added: “I’ve also spoken to commissioner Goodell a couple of times this week, in hopes that he could be some sort of arbitrator in this. I hope he can be.”

The Hall of Fame bound Favre also emphatically denied the allegations that the Minnesota Vikings has tampered with him as he contemplated whether to return to play a few weeks ago.
