College Football Predictions Baylor Bears Big 12 Conference Preview 2008: After a very disappointing 3-9 (0-8) ’07 campaign, excitement is back in the air with the acquisition of new head coach Art Briles (35-29 overall). Briles will attempt to inject his high powered-offensive football mentality to his new bunch, but who’s going to QB it? At SportsBook.com the betting odds for the Baylor Bears to win the Big 12 Conference in 2008 are 50 – 1.

The QB situation is obviously a very critical one when talking about a steady and aggressive attack. That resolution is an ongoing one at Waco, but there’s light at the end of the tunnel. College Football Predictions: Baylor Bears Big 12 Conference Preview 2008

The two main QBs that will be fighting for that position are, returning QB Blake Szymanski, and newcomer Miami (FL)transfer Kirby Freeman.

Furthermore, there are some great news for whom ever wins the head-to-head QB position battle, as the Bears will posses a very solid offensive line to protect their QB. With four returning starters, along with some new acquisitions, Baylor’s line looks very promising after allowing just 22 sacks all of last season.

However, the weak point for Baylor is on the other side of the football. With so many high-flying teams in the Big XII, it is imperative to have a good secondary to contend with the big plays. Last season, Baylor’s DBs didn’t stop the big plays, as they allowed almost 300 passing yards per game. To make matters worse, defensive coordinator, Brian Norwood, will have the task of replacing two starting CBs from last season.
