Brett Favre and Green Bay Packers Likely to Part Ways: After being reinstated and added to the Green Bay Packers’ active roster, Brett Favre and the Packers are now in Favre’s words at a “stalemate”. In the latest report on the ongoing epic, Favre apparently met with the Packers organization Tuesday morning, and by the looks of it, it didn’t go very well as the QB stated in a statement that “the best thing for this team is for us to part ways.” After arriving in Green Bay last night (and as anticipated passing his physical and all other examinations), Favre was expected to take the field Tuesday to begin “Open QB tryouts”. With these new developments, that now seems highly unlikely. Favre issued the following statement to ESPN: “We’re at a stalemate… Mike and I both agreed that me being out there is a distraction and will continue to be a distraction. We all know the reason I’m here is because the commissioner (Roger Goodell) reinstated me so we have a lot of things to figure out. It’s simple and complicated all at the same time.” According to Favre, the Packers once again have rejected his request to begin trade talks within the NFC North (possibly the Minnesota Vikings and/or the Chicago Bears). Favre continued to say: “So they can say that they welcome me back but, come on, the way they’ve treated me tells you the truth. They don’t want me back, so lets move on. I don’t know where it’s headed. We’ll see." There is now speculation that the Green Bay Packers may very well release Favre, that remains to be seen. Head coach Mike McCarthy has scheduled a press conference for later this afternoon to address the issue. They may very well have reached an agreement then.
