2010 NFL Picks: AFC South Betting Odds Preview

by Steve Hastings on Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

Sports-Odds.com is releasing our 2010 NFL Picks on the AFC South Betting Odds after previewing the Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars and Tennessee Titans. Online sportsbook BODOG.com has posted odds to win the AFC South Division.

The road to the AFC South title will continue to run through Indianapolis probably as long as quarterback Peyton Manning is still under center for the Colts. Indianapolis always seems to find a way to put just enough of the right pieces around Manning to stay on top. For 2010, the defending AFC Champions add defensive end Jerry Hughes (1st Round Pick – TCU), who some have compared to Dwight Freeney. Of course, the key offensive pieces remain in place. The Colts, hungry after losing in Super Bowl XLIV to New Orleans, again enter the season as the heavy favorite to win the AFC South. The 2010 NFL Picks Experts at online sportsbook BODOG.com have listed the Indianapolis Colts -175 odds to win the AFC South.

Nipping most closely at the heels of the Colts could be the Houston Texans, still looking for their first ever NFL Playoff appearance and taking a four game winning streak into the opener against Indianapolis. Offensively, the Texans match up with anyone and they ranked 5th in the NFL last season in yardage. The 2010 NFL Picks Experts at online sportsbook BODOG.com have listed the Houston Texans +400 odds to win the AFC South.

Most of the fans in Jacksonville were hoping the Jaguars would come away from the NFL Draft with Florida Gators star quarterback Tim Tebow, who at least could help fill the seats for a franchise in need of an attendance boost. After losing their final four games of 2009 and fading out of the NFL Playoff picture, the Jaguars need a fast start against a difficult first month schedule, at least on paper. Their biggest additions in the off season came on defense, after giving up the 9th most points in the league. The 2010 NFL Picks Experts at online sportsbook BODOG.com have listed the Jacksonville Jaguars +1000 odds to win the AFC South.

Last year was a roller coaster ride for Tennessee. The Titans opened with six straight losses but running back Chris Johnson and quarterback Vince Young led a five game winning streak that eventually brought a .500 finish. Young could of faced disciplinary action for some off season transgressions but NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell decided against taking action. Johnson leads what was the leagues second best rushing attack but the Titans desperately need to improve on defense after ranking 27th in the NFL. They are hoping that three top NFL Draft picks spent on that unit will be a quick remedy. The 2010 NFL Picks Experts at online sportsbook BODOG.com have listed the Tennessee Titans +350 odds to win the AFC South.
