Atlanta Falcons Release WR Joe Horn: On Tuesday, the Atlanta Falcons organization was forced to release All-pro WR Joe Horn, after the team was unable to trade the disgruntled veteran. After signing a 4-year, $14.5 million deal in 2007, Horn became unhappy with his involvement and role in the offense. Last season, the 36-year-old, Horn, caught just 27 passes for 243 yards, and 1 touchdown. With the departure of Joe Horn, how many games will the Atlanta Falcons win in the upcoming 2008-2009 NFL regular season? Horn, who sat out the Falcons’ first two preseason games due to a hamstring injury, has been demanded a trade for some time, and finally got his wish. When asked about the status of his injured hamstring, Horn replied: “I’m 100 percent ready to run.” With 603 career receptions for 8,744 yards and 58 TDs, Horn said he is relieved he can now pursue a job with another organization. However, he does leave with some regrets regarding a championship: “I was here and couldn’t make it happen. It’s kind of sad for me leaving.” Joe Horn is just one of many veteran players that the Atlanta Falcons have parted ways with: Warrick Dunn, Rod Coleman, DeAngelo Hall, and Alge Crumpler. Considering the unfortunate events that have crippled this once great Falcons team, with the arrest and conviction of QB Michael Vick, they now seem to be moving towards a rebuilding phase. “That’s what happens in this league. You play awhile and youth comes along. It’s their time. You don’t rebuild a team with veteran players. I do think you can rebuild with a veteran player who can still play.” Horn finished by reassuring potential teams: “I know I can still play.” According to Horn's agent, Ralph Vitolo, his client could possibly end up playing in Dallas, Jacksonville, Seattle, or Tennessee. The betting odds that the Atlanta Falcons will win OVER 4.5 games in the upcoming 2008-2009 NFL regular season is -130, and the UNDER 4.5 is Even.
