Browns vs Eagles Odds 2011 NFL Week 3 Preseason

by Matt Foust on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011

Michael Vick picked up right where he left off a season ago in the Eagles first preseason game, but his performance took a nose dive against the Steelers last Thursday night. Exhibition redemption could be in the offing this Thursday, though, when Vick and the Eagles host the 1-1 Cleveland Browns at Lincoln Financial Field. Early game lines for the week three preseason clash have Philly listed as a heavy -7 against the spread home favorite. Michael Vick looked right at Browns vs Eagles Odds 2011 NFL Week 3 Preseasonhome in the Eagles week one preseason meeting with the Ravens, completing four of his six passes for 74 yards and a touchdown, but last week's showing against Pittsburgh left much to be desired.

Vick succumbed to the Steelers pressure and his stat line said as much as he concluded the evening with a 13.5 passer rating. Head Coach Andy Reid watched his starting quarterback complete just 5-of-12 passes for 47 yards, but even worse, he witnessed him connect with the opposing team three times.

Philadelphia went on to lose the game 24-14 thanks to the 21-0 first half advantage Vick helped the Steelers procure.

Vick, who could play into the second half against the Browns, has moved past the bad outing, though, which he indicated was more the exception than the rule.

"That's very uncharacteristic of me (turnovers). It's something I rarely do," Vick told the team's official website. "I think I just got caught up in trying to force it, force the ball into certain spots. Those things you just can't do. I don't plan on doing it again. I look forward to getting better each and every day and having a good day this week."

Cleveland quarterback Colt McCoy cannot sympathize with Vick, at least not yet anyway, as the second year pro has excelled in new head coach Pat Shurmur's West Coast offense. McCoy's numbers through two preseason games are eye popping with the Texas product completing 19-of-28 passes for 231 yards and four touchdowns (131. 2 quarterback rating).

Despite his tremendous early success, McCoy is not ready to declare that he or the Browns offense has arrived.

"I think I'm still going through the process," McCoy told ClevelandBrowns.com. "We are doing a lot of different things and really trying to figure out what we like best and really who we are as an offense, what we do best. I think that's what preseason is for. We still have two more weeks of it. We are gradually growing and gradually getting there."

If McCoy's effort on Thursday mimics that of his first two preseason outings, it might be safe to assume the team will pull itself out of a near decade long funk sooner rather than later.
