New York Giants DE Out for Season, is Michael Strahan Coming Back? Thus far, the chances of the New York Giants winning back-to-back Super Bowls rings appear very dim. With the retirement of Michael Strahan, and the departure of TE Jeremy Shockey, the Giants can’t afford to loose a single player. Well too late for that, as it was announced Monday that All-Pro defensive end, Osi Umenviora, will miss the entire season with a knee injury. How many games will the New York Giants win in the 2008-2009 NFL regular season? visit BodogLife.com for the answer to this, and many other NFL questions. In the second quarter of the preseason game against the New York Jets, Umenviora tore the lateral meniscus in his left knee. He will undergo season-ending surgery on Tuesday, and the recovery period is about 4 months. The G-Men’s head coach, Tom Coughlin, expressed his concern for the well being of his player: “My number one concern is Osi… I did talk to him on the phone a little while ago and told him he is in everyone’s thoughts and prayers.” The betting odds ML that the New York Giants will win OVER 8.5 games in the 2008-2009 NFL regular season is -145. The 26-year-old DE was carted off the field and taken to the locker room immediately. Initial X-rays indicated that there was no ligament damage. But later, an MRI later revealed everyone’s worse fear: “it was obviously the news that I did not want to hear,” said the Giants coach. Nevertheless, Coughlin understood the severity of the injury, and thus, the urgency for him to undergo surgery: “… after listening to the explanation and Dr. Warren’s thoughts on it, I am convinced that this is the right procedure and the right way to do it.” Speculation has now begun to circulate of the possibility that Michael Strahan might be contemplating coming out of retirement. It should be very interesting to see, how everything will unfold within the next few days. The betting odds ML that the New York Giants will win UNDER 8.5 games in the upcoming 2008-2009 NFL regular season is +115.
