Week 1 College Football Predictions: College Football is finally here, so lets begin with the official NCAA Football top-10 BCS Rankings: (1) Ohio State, (2) LSU, (3) Virginia Tech (4) Oklahoma, (5) Georgia, (6) Missouri, (7) USC, (8) Kansas, (9) West Virginia, and (10) Hawaii. In this Week 1 College Football Predictions, I’ll be shading some light on a few interesting games in the opening week of the NCAA Football schedule.
The BCS’s top-3 teams have a relatively easy week 1, the Ohio State vs. Youngtown, LSU vs. Appalachian, and Virginia Tech vs. East Carolina.
LSU vs. Appalachian State is scheduled for Saturday beginning at 5 PM ET. The defending National Champions will open their season by taking on a Division-1AA school. I expect the LSU overpowering LSU defense to completely dominate this game from the start.
If there’s one thing that Appalachian State has to hang their hats on, is that in 2005, LSU only beat them by a score of 24-0, as they were able to hang around against this powerhouse.
At 7 PM ET, the #19 Texas Longhorns will host the Florida Atlantic Owls. The opening lines for this game are as follows: Texas -24½ (-110), ML -5000 vs. Florida Atlantic +24½ (-110), +1800. Even though this game seems inoffensive, Texas better take this team seriously, especially on defense. The Longhorns have a very vulnerable young defensive secondary, and with a good QB like FAU’s Rusty Smith, it could get dangerous out there. The OVER/UNDER in this Texas vs. Florida Atlantic is a combined 65½ total points.
