The Chiefs, under Todd Haley, may be the
worst preseason team ever. But that makes them one of the best teams to wager on in exhibition play as they are almost guaranteed to cash in the month of August.
Tonight's game may not be the best opportunity for those who have lined their pockets by going against Kansas City, though.
Haley, who owns a 1-10 preseason record, indicated earlier this week that the team wanted to take full advantage of this evening's exhibition finale, and that may mean more time than usual for KC's starters.
"We have a plan," Haley said. "I'd rather not get into it fully, but I would say our core guys will have a good amount of playing time, according to how we laid things out this year, it may not be the same as it's always been."
Green Bay, which improved to 2-1 in the preseason with a 24-21 win over Indianapolis, has no altered plan going into tonight's contest. Head Coach Mike McCarthy will play his starters, including Aaron Rodgers, but, as is custom in most exhibition finales, they will see limited action…probably only a series or two at the most.
McCarthy's primary focus against the Chiefs will be the upcoming rosters cuts. The Packers have a tremendous amount of competition at several positions, including wide receiver and tight end, which means several backup candidates will see extended action opposite Kansas City.
