Tulsa vs Oklahoma Odds 2011 College Football Spreads Week 1

by Matt Foust on Saturday, September 3rd, 2011

Tulsa vs Oklahoma Odds 2011 College Football Spreads Week 1: The top ranked Oklahoma Sooners kick off their 2011 season tonight against in-state rival Tulsa. This evening's game, which will be broadcast live on FX, is scheduled for an 8:00pm ET start at Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. 2011 college football spreads week 1 have the Sooners listed as a 25 point against the spread home favorite. The latest Tulsa vs Oklahoma odds have the game total set at 65 points.

The Sooners, fresh off a 12-2 Fiesta Bowl Tulsa vs Oklahoma Odds 2011 College Football Spreads Week 1winning season, appear poised to make a run at another BCS National Championship game. Head Coach Bob Stoops returns an abundance of talent as 16 starters and 54 lettermen are back at the school's Norman based campus.

Oklahoma did lose star running back DeMarco Murray to the NFL, but back in the fold are quarterback Landry Jones and all-world receiver Ryan Broyles. Jones threw for 4,718 yards and 38 touchdowns last season while Broyles racked up 1,622 yards and 14 touchdowns on 131 receptions.

The duo of Jones and Broyles is probably what has first year Tulsa Head Coach Bill Blankenship more concerned than anything about tonight's game. When these two teams hooked up in 2009, Jones tossed a school record six touchdowns passes, three of which Broyles was on the receiving end of in a 45-0 blowout. The Sooners finished the game with 17 first downs and 529 total yards to Tulsa's 16 and 269 respectively.

That 5-7 Golden Hurrican team is a far cry from the one that will take the field in Norman today, though. Tulsa is coming off a 10-3 campaign which featured a 62-35 stomping of Hawaii in the Hawaii Bowl. Eighteen starters and 54 lettermen are back from the 2010 squad, making the prospects of a more competitive game this time around more likely.

Still, the Sooners are a big favorite for a reason as their offense is almost certain to have its way against a Golden Hurricane defense that yielded over 30 points and 450 yards per game last season.

There are better lines on the board, especially for those who remember the Sooners last two season openers (a 13-14 loss to BYU as a 22 point favorite and a 31-24 win over Utah State as a 34 point favorite), but look for OU to take care of business against a quality Tulsa club tonight.

Tulsa vs Oklahoma Odds 2011 College Football Spreads Week 1:

Tulsa Golden Hurricane +25 (-110), Over 65 Points (-110)

Oklahoma Sooners -25 (-110), Under 65 Points (-110)
