2010 NFL Week 1 Predictions: With the start of the 2010 NFL Week 1 Predictions just around the corner, teams are making their final preparations to get the new season started with a bang. This includes the Baltimore Ravens, who went out and traded one wide receiver for another, as Mark Clayton was sent packing to the St. Louis Rams in return for T.J. Houshmandzadeh. The announcement was made by executive vice president and Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome.
Houshmandzadeh signed with the Seattle Seahawks before the start of the 2009 season and finished with a team-high 79 catches for 911 yards and three touchdowns. Houshmandzadeh is believed to have signed a 2-year deal worth approximately $40 million.
The Baltimore Ravens [+2½] will start the 2010 NFL Week 1 Predictions by taking on the sports betting odds favorite New York Jets [-2½] at New Meadowlands Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The OVER/UNDER for the Ravens vs Jets is set at a combined total of 36 points scored.
"The first things that pop out at you about T.J. are that he has been very productive and durable in his first nine years in the NFL," Newsome said. "Plus, we saw him more than we wanted making a lot of plays against us. We had interest in him a year ago when he first became a free agent before he signed with Seattle.
"He's another proven weapon for our offense — a big receiver with good hands and toughness. The one other thing that every coach and player we talked with about him indicated is that T.J. is a driven player with an excellent work ethic."
