Arizona vs Oklahoma State Odds 2011 College Football Picks Week 2: After picking up a couple of warm-up victories last week, the University of Arizona Wildcats and ninth ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys come together again for a college football picks week 2 shootout Thursday night at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, Okla., for the second time in 8 1/2 months. Wildcats players and backers will be keeping their fingers crossed that this seasons match-up will fare better than last time (Dec. 29) when the Cowboys clobbered the Cats 36-10 in the 2010 Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas. Off shore sports book BetOnline.com has the Cowboys listed 13 1/2-chalk favorites with a 66 1/2 (over/under) total.
The Wildcats secondary will be under stress when it tries to defend against the prolific passing attack Cowboys quarterback Brandon Weedon and his go-to guy, All-American Wide-Out Justin Blackmon will put them through. Last week against Louisiana-Lafayette the Pokes ran up 666 yards of offense in the 61-34 win. Against Northern Arizona, of the Big Sky Conference (FCS), the Wildcats defense allowed a run of 16 consecutive complete passes by the Lumberjacks. Unless Arizona improves its pass coverage Weeden and company will pick them apart.
Arizona will be without its best offensive player Wide-Out Juron Criner who didn't make the trip because of an undisclosed injury. Last week Wildcats Quarterback Nick Foles threw for a record 412 yards, most of it to Criner, but a total of five different receivers had catches. Look for Arizona's aerial attack to be handled by a committe of receivers against the Cowboys. With Criner out, Coach Mike Stoops will be in need of a good running game and has a good back, Keola Antolin to carry it out. Antolin has collected 1,871 career rushing yards and 362 yards on 57 receptions.
After one game OSU leads the nation in passing offense with their 458 yards put up against ULL and is sixth in scoring. It was the fifth time since 2008 that OSU produced one of its all-time top 10 offensive performances. The Cowboys struck quickly and often against the Ragin Cajuns. In the game OSU had six scoring drives of less than two minutes, including four touchdowns. The recipients of most of the yardage were Blackman, eight receptions for 144 yards and Tracy Moore who picked up 112 yards on seven catches. While in the red zone, the Pokes were 10-for-10 in scoring.
This should be an interesting game to watch with the two prolific offenses trying to out duel the other. It will be a shootout but the Cowboys are the better team. I will go with OSU covering -13 1/2 in this one.
