For the Jets, they used the offseason to make some changes and adjustments to their team, after a disappointing end to the 2008 season. The ‘09 campaign brings new faces including former Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator and now rookie head coach Rex Ryan and first round draft pick, quarterback Mark Sanchez out of Southern California.
The Jets are hoping that the pieces in place, plus these new additions will spark the team and lead them to a better season, as they look to a bright future. But many are wondering if these first-year guys will be able to pull it off, especially with a very tough first half of the NFL Predictions season.
For the hosting Houston Texans, they are out to gain some respect in the tough AFC South. Texans quarterback Matt Schaub and their ever-improving defense is their best hope for chance to finally get into the playoffs. Some new faces will also include cornerback Dunta Robinson and safety Nick Ferguson. Texans coach, Gary Kubiak, shared his thoughts on his first competitor of the season, Rex Ryan.
"He gives you a lot of looks with your three-man fronts, four-man fronts, a lot of movement,” Kubiak said. “It's his defense. It's aggressive. As an offense, if you turn the ball over or get sloppy with the football through their aggression, it's a long day for you."
