NFL Week 2 Predictions

by Matt Foust on Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

NFL Week 2 Predictions: Week one of the 2011 NFL season is officially in the books as the opening weekend concluded last night with two entertaining divisional battles. This week's action figures to be just as enjoyable with marquee matchups between the Bears and Saints, Cowboys and 49ers, and Eagles and Falcons. The earliest NFL Week 2 Predictions have the road team favored in each of those contests with the exception of the Chicago/New Orleans game.

Chicago Bears vs New Orleans Saints NFL Week 2 Predictions(-6.5): Despite their loss and ugly defensive performance against Green Bay, everyone believes the Saints are for real. The same cannot be said about Chicago. The Bears handily defeated the favored Falcons 30-12 on Sunday, but a cloud of uncertainty still hovers over Lovie Smith's team. If Chicago can take out the Saints at the Superdome, they will garner the respect they crave and prove themselves a legitimate postseason threat. No more 6.5 points lines against the conference's elite or perceived elite.

Dallas Cowboys vs San Francisco 49ers (+3): Dallas dropped what looked like a certain win on Sunday night in New York after Tony Romo threw a horrible fourth quarter interception to Darrelle Revis. The poor decision led to a 27-24 loss in a game the Cowboys led 24-10 heading into the final frame. Still, Jason Garrett's squad looked more impressive than Jim Harbaugh's Niners. Yes, San Francisco won 33-17 over the Seahawks, but 14 of their 33 points came on Ted Ginn returns. Offensively the team managed just 209 total yards while converting one of its 12 third down opportunities. This looks like a bounce back game for the Pokes.

Philadelphia Eagles vs Atlanta Falcons (+2.5): Michael Vick makes his return to Atlanta in a primetime Sunday night showdown at the Georgia Dome. There is no question which folk of birds is the superior team as the odds makers wasted no time identifying last weekend's mistaken line in the Bears/Falcons game. Mike Smith's team is good, but let's face it, they are overrated. Take the Eagles now before this spread gets any bigger.
