The Cardinals got the win 17-13 against the St. Louis Rams but they looked awful most parts of the game, especially their QB Derek Anderson when he tried to connect with the WR Larry Fitzgerald. Anderson went 22 for 41 with 297 yards and one TD but failed to connect with Fitzgerald, the playmaker only recorded 3 receptions because most of the throws were way off target.
The Cards need to pull their offense together and improve if they want to beat a Falcons defense that is better than in recent years. Also Arizona needs to take a better care of the ball and secure it after committing four turnovers against the Rams, all of them were fumbles.
The Falcons on the other hand couldn't moved the ball against the Pittsburgh Steelers and ended up losing 15-9 in overtime with a 50 yards touchdown by Rashard Mendenhall. Atlanta recorded 295 total yards but only 58 of them came from running, which means they became a passing team most of the time; QB Matt Ryan threw for 252 yards and one interception in a game where the Steelers were too much for them.
I have no doubt the Falcons will be better this weekend, first because they play at home and second because the Arizona defense is nothing like the Steelers defense, so they should cover the 7 points without any trouble.
Keep in mind the betting trends suggest Arizona is 5-2 ATS as an underdog of 3.5 to 9.5 points, 11-6 ATS as an underdog, 20-10 straight up and 18-12 ATS against conference opponents in the last three years but remember all of that was on Kurt Warner´s era. Atlanta is 6-2 ATS as a favorite of 3.5 to 9.5 points and 9-6 ATS as a favorite.
