NFL Picks Week 2

by Abe Luciano on Thursday, September 15th, 2011

Week 2 NFL Predictions: The defending Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers showed no signs of being hung-over on the first game of the 2011 season, easily defeating the high-power New Orleans Saints, 42-34. Everything seemed to be in perfect harmony for the Packers in Week 1: Aaron Rodgers was phenomenal, the Green Bay defense dominated in crunch-time, and Charles Woodson was socking people in the face.

This week, as the Packers prepare for their Week 2 matchup with Cam Newton and the Panthers, Woodson’s punishment was revealed. According to various reports, the 7-time Pro Bowl cornerback has been fined $10,000 for punching Saints tight end David Thomas.

According to NFL Odds specialists, the (1-0-0) Green Bay Packers [-10] are expected to defeat the sports betting odds underdog (0-1-0) Caroline Panthers [+10] by at least a touchdown and field goal on Sunday. This much anticipated matchup has an OVER/UNDER of 47 point and the opening kickoff is slated for 1:05 PM ET from Bank of America Stadium.

Woodson, who was not ejected from the game, was penalized during the third quarter for unnecessary roughness after throwing the infamous punch. The fact that no suspension was issued is good news for Packers fans. The fact that Woodson is a rich man is also good news, as one can assume that 10 K is chump-change for the former Heisman winner.

“Yeah, I threw a punch,” Woodson said. “Just got frustrated, the guy was holding me a little longer than I wanted. Nothing was said about it, referee-wise, quick enough, and I reacted. It is what it is, I guess.”

My NFL Picks Week 2 for the Packers vs Panthers: If you would like to see a blowout of epic proportion mixed with a little bit of destruction? Watch this game! Need I say more…?
