2011 NFL Picks Week 2: There are 4 games in the NFL’s schedule for this week beginning at 4 PM ET. I will not only highlighting every single one of these matchups, but I will also throw in the NFL Odds for each game and my 2011 NFL Picks Week 2 for these late 2011 NFL Week 2 games.
Getting things started, we have the matchup between the Dallas Cowboys visiting the San Francisco 49ers. The NFL Odds for this game have the Cowboys [-3] listed as the betting favorites on the road over the Niners [+3] by a field goal.
A field goal is a very generous spread for this game, as I believe the Boys will light up the East Bay today after choking in the opener against the Jets. Considering the 49ers defense is nowhere near the Jets’, I see Tony Romo having a monster game and Dallas winning easily by double-digit points.
The second late game on the agenda consists of the Houston Texans visiting the Miami Dolphins. NFL Odds have listed the visitors as the betting favorites once again, as Houston [-3] is expected to defeat Miami [+3] also by a field goal. In contrast to the first game, I’m all about the upset in this one!
Sure the Fins defense got lit-up like a Christmas tree by the New England Patriots high-power offense. Nevertheless, it’s no mystery that the Texans don’t have nearly as many offensive weapons as the Super Bowl favorite Pats. The fact that Adrian Foster will be playing for the first time this season will play into the Fins’ hands. I like the Miami defense to play with a chip on its shoulder and a sense of pride following a game in which they allowed over 600 total yards.
Today’s game between the Chargers and the Patriots could easily be a preview of this year’s AFC Championship game. With the AFC West pretty much there for the Chargers’ to lose, was automatically into the playoff before the season started. Sure the Raiders have shown signs of improvements over the last two seasons, but they’re not quite ready to win the Division; neither is Kansas City or even worse, Denver.
The Patriots will emerge out of the AFC East, despite the fact that Rex Ryan and the Jets will be neck-to-neck with them till the end. The Patriots are still one of the elite teams in this league, and Tom Brady is still the best signal-caller in the NFL. The difference in the matchup with the Chargers tonight is going to be defense. The Bolts will not be able to move the ball like everyone expects them to. The Patriots will win this game, but it will be close.
The final 4 PM game for this week matches the Cincinnati Bengals with the Denver Broncos. NFL Week 2 Odds have the hosting Broncos [-3½] as the sports betting odds favorites to defeat the Bengals [+3½] by just over a field goal. These are two teams struggling to get it together at the start of the season. Thus, don’t expect to see the highest level of football being played in this one. In the end, the Broncos will either win this game by over a field goal, or Kyle Orton’s job will be in jeopardy… do I hear Tebow chants?
