Miami Dolphins vs Minnesota Vikings 2010 NFL Predictions, 2010 NFL Odds & 2010 NFL Picks: Trying to start the season 2-0 for the first time in eight years, the (1-0-0) Miami Dolphins [+5½] will have to do something they haven’t done since the 1970’s: beat the sports betting odds favorite (0-1-0) Minnesota Vikings [-5½] on their home turf on Sunday. Mall of America Field will be the site for this terrific, 2010 NFL Predictions, 2010 NFL Odds & 2010 NFL Picks matchup, which has an opening kickoff slated for 1:05 PM ET (12:05 PM CT) on CBS Sports.
For the visiting Miami Dolphins, they were able to win their first season-opener in five years with an ugly 15-10 victory over the Buffalo Bills last Sunday. Nevertheless, the Fins will take it especially considering how they’ve started their season over the last half decade or so.
"Any time you get the taste of victory the first week, it's going to boost your confidence," said Dolphins cornerback Jason Allen. "We're even more hungry to have that taste again."
Trying to start the season with an 2-0 record for the first time since 2002, the Fins will also try and hand Brett Favre his first home loss in a Vikings uniform this afternoon.
"Now we have a bigger thing with Minnesota," linebacker Channing Crowder said. "They have a lot more playmakers than the Bills have."
For the Vikes, returning to the Metrodome might just be what this team needs to get back on track after a very disappointing showing in Week 1 against the defending champs. With the offense unable to get anything going, Minnesota ranked 30th in the league in points (9.0 points), 25th in total offense (253.0 yards), 23rd in passing yards (162.0 pass yards) and 19th in rushing (91.0 rush yards) after opening week.
"It's a work in progress on offense," coach Brad Childress said. "It's from a number of different spots, just getting your center back, your wideouts or your quarterback. We need to get up to speed in a heck of a hurry. I believe we will."
Favre, who missed training camp for a second straight year only to rejoin the team on August 17, connected on 15 of his 27 passes for 171 yards, a touchdown and his first interception of the season. No.4 has the Vikings riding their longest home-win streak since the Vikings racked up 12 victories from October 24, 1999 to November 30, 2000.
"It's obvious we could be a lot better," Favre said after last week’s game. "I thought our timing was a little bit off."
