For the Lions, their former No.1 overall pick, Matthew Stafford suffered a shoulder injury in Detroit’s controversial loss to the Bears. As a result, Shaun Hill will get the nod this afternoon against Philly, as the veteran signal-caller was moments away from a huge victory last week.
Trailing 19-14 with 31 seconds to go, Hill tossed a jumpball in the end zone for Calvin Johnson, who caught it, got two feet down, but couldn’t maintain possession of the football after hitting the ground. Moments later, what appeared to be the winning touchdown was wiped off, as Johnson failed to maintain possession through the entire process of the catch.
"I found out after I sprinted halfway across the field that it didn't count," Calvin Johnson said. "It is what it is, and now it's over."
