“I knew he would be good, but if I told you I knew he'd be this good this early, I'd be lying to you,” said Packers tackle, B.J. Raji. “He doesn't get frustrated. We threw a lot of stuff at him today and he was able to sit back there and make some of the plays they needed.”
The Panthers are coming off a 23-30 loss at the hands of the defending champion Green Bay Packers. Although he wasn’t as impressive has in his debut, Newton still sensational for a rookie. Newton finished the game 28-for-46 for 432 yards and two touchdowns: one passing and one rushing.
After the game was over, even the reigning Super Bowl MVP couldn’t help but comment in the young Newton and his abilities.
“I think someone said in the locker room that I'm kind of glad we played him early in the season,” said Green Bay signal-caller, Aaron Rodgers said. “When he figures it out fully, he's going to be even tougher to stop.”
This week, the Carolina Panthers [-3½] will have a great opportunity to win their first ballgame of the season, as the NFL Odds underdog Jacksonville Jaguars [+3½] come to town. This game is scheduled to kickoff on Sunday at 1 PM ET and the OVER/UNDER is set at a combined total of 43 points.
