NFL Picks Week 3

by Abe Luciano on Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

NFL Picks Week 3: With everyone expecting this will be the year that the Baltimore Ravens enter elite status, their 1-1 start hasn’t really impressed too many observers. Sure their 35-7 win over the Steelers in their season opener was impressive. However, their 13-26, Week 2 loss to the Tennessee Titans was equally as disappointing and humbling for John Harbaugh’s bunch.

Trying to get back on track, Joe Flacco and the black birds will travel to Edward Jones Dome, the site for the NFL Picks Week 3 battle between the (1-1-0) Baltimore Ravens [-4] and the NFL Betting Odds underdog (0-2-0) St. Louis Rams [+4]. The opening kickoff for this NFL Picks Week 3 matchup is scheduled for 4:05 PM ET and the OVER/UNDER is set at a combined total of 41½ points.

The contrast from Week 1 to Week 2 couldn’t have been more apparent for the Ravens defense. Against the Steelers, Baltimore forced a franchise-record 7 turnovers, compared to just one last week against the Titans. In addition, the Ravens surrendered 423 yards last week, in comparison to a stingy 312 given up in the opener, which included holding the Steelers to less than 100 rushing yards as a team.

“The same performance we took responsibility for against Pittsburgh, we take responsibility for against Tennessee,” Harbaugh said. “Both of those games are ours. That's who we are, and we build off both of those games. We take what we learn and we take it to St. Louis and try to become a better football team.”

My NFL Picks Week 3 for Ravens vs Rams: Unfortunately for the Rams, they will remain winless this season, as they’ll run into a Ravens team desperate for erasing the memory of last week’s letdown against the Titans. Expect Sam Bradford to be harassed by Ray Lewis and the rest of the Ravens defense and force some mistakes by the young signal-caller. I like the Ravens winning this game in blowout fashion on Sunday!

“That is one thing that I have always liked about our team — we always bounce back,” Ray Lewis said.
