The Lions are the talk of the NFL after 
their impressive 2-0 start, but there remains a slight air of uncertainty about this team as it heads to Minnesota. There is a feeling that Detroit has yet to be truly tested, despite opening the season against a solid Buccaneers team in Tampa Bay.
Last weekend's dominating 48-3 win over the Chiefs saw the Lions rack up 411 yards and Matthew Stafford throw for 294 yards and four touchdowns, but the team benefited from six Kansas City turnovers. The Chiefs also rushed for 151 yards on 29 carries, despite Jamaal Charles blowing out his knee after just two first quarter rushing attempts.
The Vikings, no doubt, took a look at where Kansas City was successful and will use that to their advantage on Sunday. The Chiefs strong effort on the ground probably left Adrian Peterson, who has rushed for 218 yards in 41 attempts this season, feeling confident that he can duplicate the 160 yard, two touchdown performance he put together last September against the Lions.
If Vikings Head Coach Leslie Frazier has not already identified Detroit's tendency to over pursue on defense, well, then he is not doing his job. Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham is all about pressure and pursuit, which makes his teams susceptible to cutback runs and bootleg plays from the quarterback. Frankly, McNaab should enjoy his best game as a Viking, Ndamukong Suh or no.
And there is another area where Minnesota has an edge on the Lions…confidence. Detroit snapped a six game losing streak to the Vikings in last year's finale, but Minnesota has won 16 of its last 18 games against the Lions. The Vikings have also won 13 in a row over Detroit at the Metrodome.
The hype may be real, the Lions may well secure a post-season berth, but the wrong team is favored in this one; Minnesota wins straight up, turning down the tout machine for at least one week.
