New York Giants WR Plaxico Burress Suspended: The defending Super Bowl Champions, New York Giants couldn’t have stunned the Patriots in the big game without the stellar play of wide receiver, Plaxico Burress. Nevertheless, the Giants have decided to do without him against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, October 5th, at the Meadowlands.
The electrifying receiver has been suspended for 2 weeks (1 game) by the team, for allegedly not showing up to practice on Monday. With this type of behavior, can the New York Giants win back-to-back Super Bowls? SportsBook.com has the answer.
This week, Eli Manning and the G-Men have a bye-week, as they prepare for the Seattle Seahawks. One player who apparently felt he didn’t need preparation is Plaxico Burress.
Burress wasn't only a no-show at team practice on Monday, but in addition, failed respond to several phone calls made by the team, Monday and Tuesday.
Burress neither picked up the phone, nor did he even bother to let the team know that he wasn’t going to be able to attend practice. Basically, his excuses were no good at all, and so Tom Coughlin and team decided to punish him. The New York Giant' NFL Betting Odds to win the 2009 Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa, FL are third best at +1,000.
With the suspension, Burress will miss 2 weeks of pay (I’m sure that hurts), and subsequently will not play the game against Seattle. The team with the best NFL betting odds to win the 2009 Super Bowl XLIII is the Dallas Cowboys, +300.
Two seasons ago, Burress grabbed 18 catches for 259 yards and 1 touchdown. Last season he demolished those numbers by pulling down 70 balls for 1,025 yards and 12 TDs. Through most of last season, Burress continued to play despite a severely injured ankle. Burress opened this NFL season with 10 receptions for 133 yards when the Giants hosted the Washington Redskins in Week 1.
