2010 NFL Week 3 Picks

2010 NFL Week 3 Picks: The (0-2-0) Cleveland Browns [+11] are still trying to figure out if starting quarterback Jake Delhomme will be on the field on Sunday as they take on the (1-1-0) Baltimore Ravens [-11]. Brown’s Coach Eric Mangini has not counted him out completely just yet. On Friday before practice he told reporters that they are still going to wait and see if he will be out for the second week in a row.

"I don't know," Mangini said Friday before practice. "He's very aggressive with his rehab. It's like everything else he does, he does it very aggressively and each day it gets a little better. I have total confidence to operate the plan if he is available. We'll just have to see if he's available."

During Tampa Bay’s season opener, Delhomme injured himself by spraining his right ankle. Because of this he has not been able to practice in two weeks, and is still wearing a protective boot for walking. His replacement, Seneca Wallace, was not much help as the Broncos lost to the Kansas City Chiefs last Sunday at home.

Most likely Wallace will be starting against the Ravens, and it will be his first time facing Baltimore. “I know that they’re a very physical defense, they create a lot of turnovers. They’ve always been that way,” said Wallace.

But if Delhomme is able to show significant improvement in the next couple of days, he will probably start and Mangini would probably feel fine sending the 35-year-old veteran to run the game plan without much practice.

2010 NFL Week 3 Picks

2010 NFL Week 3 Picks: Sunday night football is set-up to be an exciting rivalry match-up between the (2-0-0) Miami Dolphins [-2] and the (1-1-0) New York Jets [+2], and everyone wants to be in on the action. Two of the New York Jets players that were listed as questionable for Sunday, were said to be ready to go on Friday.

Rex Ryan told reporters that center Nick Mangold and ex-Dolphin Jason Taylor are expected to play in Miami this weekend. Mangold sprained his right shoulder in last week’s win against the Patriots. He was at practice on Friday for the first time this week.

This will be Taylor’s first game against the Dolphins in 12 seasons. Once the linebacker learned that he was not getting a contract from Miami, he ended up signing a two-year deal with their archrivals. Taylor hurt his left elbow last Sunday against the Patriots, in the second half of the game.

After getting treatment he returned to the field but reinjured the elbow on the Patriots’ final offensive play when he sacked Tom Brady. This huge play even caused his ex-rival fans to start to chant his name.

"That could probably be the symbolic play," Taylor said in a phone interview. "I didn't hear them chanting my name when I was on the ground. I didn't hear that over the pain. But my wife told me later on 'Can you believe they were chanting your name?' "

Taylor has been on the field more than he was expected to when he first signed with the Jets. He is replacing Calvin Pace, who is out with a broken right foot. Coach Rex Ryan did mention that tackle Wayne Hunter will not be traveling to Miami because he is still recovering from a shin injury.
