NFL Week 3 Picks 2011

by Abe Luciano on Saturday, September 24th, 2011

NFL Week 3 Picks 2011: This week’s Monday Night game has plenty of importance and no lack of headlines, as it’ll be a battle of NFC East teams, when the surprising NFL Betting Odds underdogs, (2-0) Washington Redskins [+3] travel to the Lone Star State to try and ruin the (1-1) Dallas Cowboys [-3] home debut. Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, will be the site for Monday Night Football on ESPN, beginning at 8:30 PM ET.

According to NFL Odds makers, the OVER/UNDER for this Redskins vs Cowboys game is set at a combined total of NFL Week 3 Picks 201145 points scored. For the visiting Redskins, Mike Shanahan has gotten this team off to a perfect start, as they currently occupy the top spot in the Division.

With a very important intra-divisional game coming up, the Skins are doing all they can to get into the Cowboys’ heads. In particular, Pro Bowl cornerback, DeAngelo Hall has taken it upon himself to create headlines for this one.

With Tony Romo expected to play with a fractured rib and punctured lung, Hall assured everyone in the media that he would do his best to get the Boys’ QB out of the game. Apparently, Hall sees Romo’s injury as something to exploit in order to give his team an advantage and he's not affraid to say it.

"Absolutely. I want to get a chance to put my helmet on whatever's hurt," Hall stated. "Romo's ribs — I'm going to be asking for some corner blitzes. If I know Felix Jones' shoulder's hurt, I'm not going to cut him. I'm definitely going to try to hit him up high, so that's just part of it.

"If you know something's wrong with an opponent, you're going to try to target in on that. We're going to try to definitely get as many hats on that team as possible."

For the Cowboys, Romo’s health might be the determining factor as to whether this team will finally win its first home opener since Cowboys Stadium was erected in June of 2009. Since then, Dallas has lost to the Giants two years ago and to Chicago last season. Will Romo help or hurt his team by playing through injury?

"I think he's doing fine," said head coach Jason Garrett. "He got knocked around a little bit on Sunday, but he's getting his rehab and hopefully he'll be ready to play for this ballgame. We'll take it day to day, the next few days."

My NFL Week 3 Picks 2011 for the Redskins vs Cowboys: Well, if Romo can be effective, the Cowboys will win this game by over a field goal. However, if the Skins decide that they will take Hall’s approach with Romo and blitz him to knock him around, we might very well see Jon Kitna come in. if that’s the case, Dallas has no chance at winning this game by over a field goal.

I believe that either Romo plays or not, or whether he is effective or not, this will be a very close contest. The Redskins are coming into this game pretty determined and thirsty for blood. Whether Romo plays the whole game or not, I like the Washington Redskins at +3 in this one!
