Detroit Lions vs Minnesota Vikings 2010 NFL Predictions, 2010 NFL Picks & 2010 NFL Odds: Just a year ago, the Mall of America Field was an impossible place to win at for the NFC North and the rest of the league. This season, the (0-2-0) Minnesota Vikings [-12] have yet to won a game and Brett Favre has three interceptions and no touchdowns. Looking to begin some positive momentum, the 2-time defending Division champs welcome NFC North rivals, (0-2-0) Detroit Lions [+12].
The Lions and Vikings are scheduled to kick things off this afternoon at 1 PM ET (12 PM CT/10 AM PT) and it’ll be broadcasted live on FOX. According to Detroit Lions vs Minnesota Vikings 2010 NFL Predictions, 2010 NFL Picks & 2010 NFL Odds the OVER/UNDER for the Lions and Vikings is set at a combined total of 43 points.
For the Lions, there appears to be a lot more excitement about this team than about Favre’s Vikings at this point in the season. However, Detroit comes into this matchup having lost 13 straight games against Minnesota in the Metrodome. But there are things to smile about, if you’re a Lions fan, as this team has shown signs of improvement.
Despite being 0-2, the Lions have been competitive in both of their loses to the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles. In the season opener, Detroit was so close to snapping their long and dreadful 24-game, road-losing streak. However, Calvin Johnson’s go-ahead touchdown was called back, after the stellar wide out failed to maintain possession through the process of the catch.
Last week, after falling behind by as many as 18 points to Michael Vick and the Eagles, the Lions came roaring back in the 4th quarter. Behind quarterback Shaun Hill and running back Jahvid Best Detroit almost came all the way back, as it fell, 32-35 in the end.
"I'm proud to stand among the players," said Lions coach Jim Schwartz. "This is a tough team, a team that's resilient, that fights through a lot of situations."
For the Vikings, it seems that Favre and Adrian Peterson cant do enough to get this time on the win column. "It's a 14-game season now and we're sitting at the bottom of it," Favre said. "What we do with it from here remains to be seen. It won't be any easier."
Injuries to Favre’s top two receivers from a year ago have put the Vikings behind the 8-ball. Thus, Minnesota went out and signed wide receiver Hank Baskett to give No.4 another option to throw to. Regardless of what happens with this team ione thing is clear: it’s going to be an almost impossible road for the Vikings to win the NFC North once again.
"We can't make excuses," Favre said. "There will be what-ifs or shoulda, coulda, wouldas. That's part of it. You go down swinging and you win swinging. If we don't make it, we don't make it."
