2011 NFL Week 4 Picks: There are a few characteristics that have made the New York Jets unique since Rex Ryan took over as their head coach. Some stand out more than others, such as the amount of cusswords and drama. However, on the football field, nothing has defined the Jets’ personality more than their ability to come together as a team and play their best under adversity and doubt. Well, adversity and doubt they have, as they took a whooping at the hands of the Oakland Raiders last week,
creating, if nothing else, “adversity and doubt”. Based on that rationale alone, I’m picking the (2-1) New York Jets [+3½] NFL Betting Odds against the hosting (2-1) Baltimore Ravens’ [-3½] come Sunday.
The Jets and the Ravens will battle it out at the M&T Bank Stadium on NBC’s Sunday Night Football, beginning at 8:30 PM ET. According to 2011 NFL Week 4 Picks specialists, the projected OVER/UNDER line between the Jets and Ravens is set at a combined total of 41 points scored.
We all know that the Jets’ fate lies heavily on Mark Sanchez’s ability to make plays when it matters most. Hey, listen, whether you love him or hate him, no one can deny the fact the Jets have been able to back-up all their trash-talk because of two things: defense and clutch-plays… and Mark Sanchez deserves most of the credit for the ladder.
After suffering a broken nose, as a gift from the Raiders’ Kamerion Wimbley, the former USC football star claims has now shook it off and says he’ll be ready to go against Baltimore this week. It’s funny to hear him talk about the incident; it almost seems like he’ll be OK to play football, but sounds a bit more concerned about his modeling career…
“It feels a lot better now, and we’ll just worry about it after the season,” Sanchez said. “It’s no big deal. We’ll take it game by game. We play in the elements out here, so I don’t know how well a visor holds up. I’ve never even thought about wearing a visor before. We’ll take it game by game, but I’m not worried about it either way.”
My 2011 NFL Week 4 Picks for the Jets vs Ravens game: As I stated before: I like the Jets with just over a field-goal cushion in this one. I expect Ray Rice to have a tough day at the office, following a very disappointing performance by the Jets’ rush defense in Oaktown last week. Although it won’t be the prettiest or the most exciting football games you’ll ever see, I like the Jets to pull off the upset or at least lose by a field goal or less.
