2010 NFL Week 4 Predictions: After the reigning Super Bowl quarterback, Drew Brees, wore a brace on his left knee to practice on Wednesday, many New Orleans Saints fans were left wondering. According to Brees, he wore the brace due to still being sore from a hit that occurred in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against Atlanta. Defensive end John Abraham tackled him as he delivered a fourth down pass to Jeremy Shockey. Although he was shaken up, Brees continued to play in overtime, seeming to be just fine.
When asked about how he is feeling now, and if he will be playing this coming week, he responded:“I’m kind of playing with it for stability and comfort,” Brees said. “More than likely, yes. We’ll see.”
The star quarterback was not placed on the injury report for the Saints, which is why it came as a surprise. Coach Sean Payton explained that there was no injury, simply soreness. The soreness was not serious enough to keep him away from regular practice.
“There’s no specific injury other than he has soreness,” Payton said. “He took all the (practice snaps). There’s not an injury to report. I was pleased with how he functioned. He functioned fine. It’s something that as the week goes on, I think he’ll have no problem with and he did a real good job in all the team stuff today.”
Sunday’s game was a tough one for the Saints, as they lost in overtime 27-24 to the Falcons. Brees led the Saints to the 11-yard line, for what seemed to be the game winning field goal attempt. Garrett Hartley hooked the kick wide left, making the Saints record 2-1. The New Orleans Saints [-14] will now go up against the Carolina Panthers [+14] on Sunday at 1 PM ET.
