A torrential down pour and rookie 
quarterback Blaine Gabbert did little to improve the Jaguars flagging offense last weekend. Jacksonville lost 16-10 to the Panthers after coming up with 13 first downs and 257 total yards.
The poor performance dropped the Jags to 28th in yards and 31st in points per game; two rankings which do not figure to get much better with the team's lack of receiving threats. Gabbert, who completed 12-of-21 passes for 139 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on Sunday, could help, but, aside from Maurice Jones-Drew, the team simply does not have a consistent offensive presence.
Jacksonville can play defense, though, (fourth in yards per game allowed – 280) and it will need to in order to have any chance of upsetting New Orleans. The Saints, which are posting an average of 438 yards and 34.7 points per game, can move the ball with the best of them, something they demonstrated last weekend against the Texans.
Drew Brees and company, which trailed Houston 16-7 midway through the second quarter, beat Gary Kubiak's squad 40-33 after recording four second half touchdowns. Brees threw two picks in the game, but he also accumulated 370 yards passing and three touchdowns passes. Get $50 in Free NFL Picks Here.
The last time Brees faced the Jaguars, a 2007 meeting at the Superdome, he completed 35-of-49 passes for 445 yards and three scores. New Orleans won the game 41-24.
This contest could easily go the same way; however, the current Jags team seems to have an ability to suck the air out of the ball both offensively and defensively. The Saints will win this game, but it would not be shocking to see Jacksonville earn a home dog cover.
